Maybank Malaysian Open

    Maybank Malaysian Open is acclaimed as one of the most prestigious and grand golf events in the country. Besides that, the tournament is also perceived as the leading national open championship in the region. The tournament was actually inaugurated in 1962 but to date, Malaysian golfers have never won the title before.

    The Malaysian Open is the Malaysian edition of the European Golf Tour. Moved into Asia starting 1989, the tournaments underwent various name change ever since its inception. The tour comes to Asia to escape the winter season in Europe. Malaysia is one of their stops. Previously named Benson & Hedges Malaysian Open, it was changed to Carlsberg Malaysian Open before changing again to Maybank Malaysian Open since 2006.

    Maybank Malaysian Open 2010 was recently held at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) and saw participation of best players from Malaysia and around the world. The golfers competed in the tournament for prize money of US$2 million. Eventually, Noh Seung-Yul from South Korea won the championship. Other former winners of the championship are Vijay Singh, Thongchai Jaidee and Arjun Atwal.
