The Eye on Malaysia opens its doors to visitors and tourists at its new permanent 4-acre home at the scenic mouth of the Melaka River with a host of brand-new world-class offerings after a successful tenure at Lake Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur.

‘Theatre of The Waters’, the world’s largest water screens and a brilliant addition to the International WaterSky Spectacular will be launched this Saturday, 3 February, 2007 at Lake Titiwangsa by Federal Territories Minister, Yang Berhormat Datuk Zulhasnan Rafique.
The International WaterSky Spectacular which showcases the phenomenal ‘Eye on Malaysia’ launched earlier this year will unveil ‘Theatre of The Waters’, displaying the world’s largest and most powerful water screens that captivate spectators, featuring facets of enchanting Malaysia in a kaleidoscope of amazing images and colourful lighting effects.
This mesmerising tapestry of images, staged simultaneously at four locations around Lake Titiwangsa’s shoreline, presents the people, places and achievements of Malaysia in a newly created format that combines lasers, projections, pyrotechnics and on-water ski performances.
Each of the four screens of water is a massive 40 metres wide and 15 metres high. It is artistically enhanced with colour laser beams and high-powered projectors.
“‘Theatre Of The Waters’ is a world-first for Malaysia”, said Widyanty Yusope, the Executive Director of event organiser, MST AD Suria Sdn Bhd.
“We do not know of any other multiple water screen production in the world that has this level of multimedia and live action. We have champion water skiers, the world’s best fireworks artists, award-winning laser programmers and state-of-the-art technology all combining to show off Malaysia to the world in our 50th year of nationhood,” Widyanty added.
Since the launch of the International WaterSky Spectacular and the Eye on Malaysia viewing wheel on the January 6, the 2007 Visit Malaysia Year programme at Lake Titiwangsa has hosted a record number of tourists and visitors. The organisers have estimated that more than 750,000 people have visited Lake Titiwangsa since the beginning of January 2007.

Ensuring quality and safety of the “Eye on Malaysia”
Experts from the German Technical Inspection Authority (TUV) are conducting tests on the wheel and will provide certification to ensure that it adheres to national and international safety standards. “The TUV tests are conducted according to European standards and is recognised by the Malaysian Government,” said Mr. Martin Weniger, Specialist Amusement Rides Inspector of TUV Germany.
The “Eye on Malaysia” is our country’s first viewing wheel. Standing at a height of 60 metres, it is the largest transportable viewing wheel in South East Asia. There are 42 gondolas-41 regular and 1 VIP gondola complete with leather seats, DVD player, plasma screen, fridge and glass flooring.
Ticket prices for regular gondolas range from RM15 for adults and RM8 for children and concessionaires. There are special packages for those who go in groups.

KUALA LUMPUR, Thurs- South East Asia’s first viewing wheel dubbed the “Eye on Malaysia” is currently in the second half of the construction process.
“Eye on Malaysia” is one of the attractions in Visit Malaysia Year 2007. “Lake Titiwangsa is the ideal spot to build “Eye on Malaysia” because of its flat surface and low-rise buildings around the area. This means visitors will have an uninterrupted view of the amazing Kuala Lumpur skyline,” said Project Manager Jeroen Nijpels.
“Eye on Malaysia” is the first-of-its-kind in Malaysia built with the latest German-Swiss observation technology.
Once completed, the “Eye on Malaysia” will stand at a staggering height of 60 metres. There are 42 gondolas, 41 regular and one VIP gondolas. Each gondola holds up to eight guests with each ride lasting for 12 minutes.

With the width of 90 metres and height of 35 metres, the Strange World Screen comprises of the world’s largest and most powerful high-tech water screens. Crafted from a screenplay showcasing a fluid series of dynamic Malaysian images, lighting effects and high-tech laser artistry, this show will be accompanied by a world premiere musical soundtrack composed by Chong Lim, the internationally acclaimed Malaysian musical director known for his work for the stage and screen and with superstars such as Kylie Minogue.

Also being launched tonight is the second of the Malaysia International Spectacular showcase series –Spectacular Spheres. Designed by the team that brought 10,000 people to the banks of the Yarra River every night at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Spectacular Spheres comprises of large scale floating sphere sculptures that combine fantastic water, lighting and projection effects to illuminate Putrajaya Lake at night to the beat of a captivating soundtrack. A combination of Japanese, German and Australian technology is used to bring the Spheres to life and the formation is designed to perform a symphonic visual ballet on the water surface.
Chris Sifton, Creative Director of Spectacular Spheres said: “We have specially designed the Spectacular Spheres for Malaysia. Putrajaya is one of the most beautiful venues in the world for our larger-than-life show and is, in fact, an ideal backdrop for it. Wedding bells chime from Selayang to the Eye on Malaysia at Lake Titiwangsa as couple Mohd. Tarmizi Mohd. Sahir and Mazlinah Rosli celebrate their union, amidst the Kuala Lumpur skies in Southeast Asia’s largest Viewing Wheel.
The couple, in the hope of making their wedding day a truly memorable affair, had approached Widyanty Yusope, MST AD SURIA’s Executive Director, and requested for the bridal entourage to ride the Eye on Malaysia making it a perfect ending to a storybook wedding.

In conjunction with Malaysia’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, MST AD SURIA, the homegrown world-class events specialist, is proud to launch several new attractions at the Eye on Malaysia today. The highlights include the Arena Vision light show, Southern Hemisphere dinosaurs, an inflatable prehistoric garden of plants and insects, and the quirky Waterheads.

The centerpiece of the Merdeka Specials is Arena Vision – the brainchild of MST AD SURIA and lighting specialist, Philip Lethlean. Mr Lethlean said: “Arena Vision is custom-designed to spectacularly illuminate the Eye on Malaysia in a rainbow of colours, making the night-time rides even more breathtaking.” The Arena Vision light show will be available nightly between 1 August 2007 and 31 December 2007. This visual feast will complement the popular Theatre of the Waters show.
For daytime visitors, there will be a series of limited edition interactive performances which will take place daily between 3 August 2007 and 9 September 2007. The main attraction is a team of five Southern Hemisphere dinosaurs consisting of a dwarf Allosaur, a Dienonycus (a kind of small Raptor), an Ozraptor, a small Ankylosaur and a Dryosaur which will roam freely around the Eye, interacting with children and the young-at-heart.
Accompanying these awesome dinosaurs is an inflatable ancient garden of plants with insects walking about on giant stilts. The dinosaurs, plants and insects are drawn from the story of prehistoric life in the Southern Hemisphere. In between the dinosaurs’ performances, the Waterheads – real people with their heads completely submerged in fish tanks – will take the limelight. They will mingle with the crowd and wow one and all with their amazing ability to hold their breath.
