The Royal Johor Country Club is one of the most established clubs in the country. Located in the southern state of Johor, the golf club is actually the first to be established there. When it was officiated in 1972, it was named the Johor Golf Club and only in 1983 that it was renamed as the Royal Johor Country Club by the Sultan of Johor.
The golf course today is a lot more challenging than when it first started in which the greens and tees were laid with Bermuda grass back in 1991. This has given the course a whole new playing experience while more bunkers and ponds were installed. the redesigning of the golf course then was carried out by Max Wexler.
The Royal Johor Country Club will continue to grow in stature and name where it is now regarded to be one of the most prestigious clubs in the country hosting international tournaments like the Iskandar Open. It is an 18-hole golf course that goes with the names of the Tunku Mahkota’s Nine and the Menteri Besar’s Nine respectively.
Where the greens are laid with Bermuda Tifdwarf, local cowgrass is used on the fairways grass. This course is open for members as well as walk-in visitors who do not want to travel too far to have a game. There are night golfing services available as well as caddies too. Apart from that, there is a putting green for practicing and a driving range while other facilities here include a gym, swimming pool and tennis courts.
