29 year old Australian Aaron Baddeley has beaten former world number one Vijay Singh and Fred Couples to win the Northern Trust Open at the Riviera Country Club which is his U.S. PGA Tour title in four years. He entered the final round over the weekend where he took a one-shot lead and finished with a 2 under par 69 where he won the tournament with a 12-under, 2 better than Singh.
Winning the tournament will ensure Baddeley takes home the USD $1.17 million cash prize and has not won for a while where he has had 96 starts since the last time he lifted a trophy which was back in 2007 at the FBR Open. He said that the win was ‘worth every bit’ after having to wait so long. 48 year old Singh on the other hand too has not won a major tournament for a while too where his last was at the Deutsche Bank Championship in September 2008. He finished this tournament with a 10-under while Kevin Na, the Taiwanese was third with a 9-under. Na was trying to win this tournament over the weekend but was unable to keep up the pressure and fell short in the end.
