When it comes to apparel in golf, the usual names like TaylorMade and PING will always be mentioned. While those brands are often associated with the game, there are certain brands often regarded as more ‘luxurious’.
Quality and Performance
The luxury brands in golf include names like Greyson Clothiers, Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG) KJUS and others. Such brands are known to offer high-quality products spanning different categories like tops, bottoms, gloves and such.
Some of these brands are mostly known to make golf clubs while some started out as clothing lines which continue to be so until the present day. Below are some of these top luxury golf brands that are worn and used by several top PGA golfers.
Parsons Xtreme Golf
Known short as PXG, Parsons Xtreme Golf designs and sells its own golf equipment products. Established by Bob Parsons who is the founder of another golf equipment manufacturer (GoDaddy), PXG was founded to provide golfers with a brand that offers a club that suits them.
The first PXG 0311 forged iron was the first product to be rolled out and in 2015, Ryan Moore started using the PXG prototype irons and wedges. Today, they sell a full range of clubs that can be customized including drivers, wedged, putters, irons, woods and hybrids.
Greyson Clothiers
Greyson Clothiers is inspired by the principles of the wolf. Founded by Charlie Schaefer, the brand was derived from his daughter’s name.
The vision of Greyson Clothiers is to combine fashion and sport and with the intelligence, strength, focus and style of the wolf.
Products by Greyson Clothiers are designed for golfers to perform at their best and hence strengthen the idea that sport and luxury fashion could coexist successfully.
As such, it is common to see golfers like Carlos Ortiz and Cameron Tringale look extremely stylish when donning Greyson Clothiers’ apparel during their game.
J Lindeberg
J. Lindeberg is one of the few luxury golf brands known for quality and style. Founded by Johan Lindeberg in 1996, the Swedish clothing brand is popular for its wide range of casual and sporting apparel.
In the sporting department, J.Lindeberg is known for its golf and ski clothing. Lindeberge was the marketing director at Italian fashion brand Diesel before he started J.Lindeberg.
In November 2022, it was reported that J.Lindeberg will be collaborating with the LPGA player Nelly Korda which will be designed based on the personal style of the golfer.
KJUS Golf
KJUS Golf products stem from the ski apparel department inspired by Alpine skater Lasse Kjus. During his competitive years, he found that functionality and performance are more crucial if one is in the mountains.
That prompted and drove him to build the KJUS brand. Started out skiing at the tender age of 3, and he started competing by the age of 10. By the age of 14, he has propelled to the national team.
A multi-Olympic medallist, he found the need to design better apparel with different fabrics after they fell on deaf years during the product development meetings.
Hence, he decided that ski wear needed some technology and in 2000, the first small ski collection was launched. After 10 years, the technology and innovative approach expanded into golf.
Acushnet Company which owns brands like Titleist and Footjoy eventually took over KJUS in 2019 and the brand continues to grow with more innovative tops and bottoms for golfers including Swiss Joel Girrbach and Dutch LPGA player, Anne Van Dam.
Lyle & Scott Golf
Originating from Scotland, the Lyle & Scott golf apparel is often seen in their signature knitwear. This was after all it was known for previously.
Lyle & Scott Golf is perhaps one of the oldest brands in golf clothing. It started out in 1874 as a brand that dresses up golfers and has been doing so ever since. In 1975 The Duke of Edinburgh appointed the brand a Royal Warrant of appointment which goes to show the recognition of this clothing line.
It would continue to grow and by 2004, it has grown to a larger market with a strong focus on golf.
The Lyle and Scott Golf Collection is one of the most popular ranges that is worn by some top golfers and also by those who wear them for casual purposes. Among their more popular products include:
- Golf Gilet – A vest that is great for casual games that come with PermaLoft thermal to keep you warm.
- The Lyle and Scott Golf sweater is surely designed for the modern golfer. Merino wool and acrylic are used to give it a lot of flexibility and stretch.
- The classic polo will surely be every golfer’s need as it is simple, functional and easy. The ‘Eagle Print’ polo from Lyle and Scott is easy to match and is something you can wear whether it is for a game or just for taking a stroll. It is also easy for going to the range too.
