Suria FM is a Bahasa Malaysia radio station which started broadcasting in 2005. Its largest listener base is in the Klang Valley where this station is heard in 105.3 MHz in which it is where the station is based as well. Suria FM is owned by Rimamamakmur Sdn Bhd which is a subsidiary of Star Publications (M) Bhd. Star Publications is the publisher of The Star, the top English Language daily in Malaysia which owns Capital FM and Red FM, two of the privately owned English Language stations in Malaysia.Suria FM’s previous slogan is ‘Muzik Terbaik 90an Dan Terbaru’ which means ‘the best 90s and latest music’ where it plays what is known as ‘all time favourites’ thereby targeting listeners from different age groups. Today, its slogan is ‘Menceriakan Duniamu’ which has appealed very well among its target audience.
Apart from the Klang Valley, Suria FM is heard in Seremban who tune in through ‘107.0 MHz’ as well as in Kuantan and Kota Kinabalu. Through this unique offering, listeners are able to catch music from the 1980s, 1990s and some of the recent hits through Suria FM, unlike many Malay language stations which are usually more focused on contemporary and latest hits. As such, Suria FM has a unique listener base which ranges from those in the 30s and 40s age group as well as the younger crowd who largely tune in to its morning segments ‘Ceria Pagi @ Suria’ and Ceria Petang which go on air in the mornings and evenings during the daily rush hours.
