If you haven’t already known, the widely anticipated Maybank Malaysian Open 2011 is underway and will go on until the 17th of this year. The 50th edition of the Maybank Malaysian Open which is the most prestigious golf tournament here will see some of the world’s finest professionals which include Martin Kaymer, the current World No.1 swinging our way.
Tournament Venue and ticket prices
The tournament is being held at the KLGCC or Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club and ticket prices are RM10 per day while the weekend tickets are priced at RM20 per day. You can however purchase the 4-day ticket priced at RM40. Senior citizens get a 50% discount on the ticket prices. If you are heading for the event, you can park your cars at the Sime Darby Convention Centre where there would be shuttles to ferry you to KLGCC.
An impressive list of participants
For this year’s Malaysian Open, some of the most renowned golfers from the European and Asian Tours will be pitting their skills to take home the prize winnings of a staggering US$2.5 million. Among those that were confirmed joining the tournament include Martin Kaymer, Todd Hamilton who had won the 2004 Open Championship and Michael Campbell, the 2005 US Open winner. Besides that, Thongchai Jaidee, Marcus Fraser and Soren Kjeldsen were also involved. The winner of the 2011 Maybank Malaysia Open was 18-year old Italian golfer Matteo Manassero who earned the prize-winning of €288,465. This would be his second European Tour win.
