Malaysia will be hosting the inaugural Eurasian Cup in 2014. As the name implies, it will be a golf competition which will involve teams from Europe and Asia battling it out to win the title.

Sources have reported that Miguel Angel Jimenez from Spain will be leading the European team while Thai professional Thongchai Jaidee will be the captaining the team for Asia for the challenge against their European counterparts.
The Eurasian Cup 2014 will be run similarly like the well-recognized Ryder Cup which will be run between March 28th and 30th in Kuala Lumpur. So far, 4 players have been confirmed for the European side which will be comprised of Victor Dubuisson from France, Greame McDowell from Ireland, Jamie Donaldson from Wales and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano from Spain. Captain Miguel Angel Jimenez had previously said that they will be forming the team based on the World rankings while 2 more will be based on the Ryder Cup performances. As for the Asian team, they will be selected from the 4 finalist of the Asian Tour Order of Merit 2013 who are available, 3 who are invited based on their Official World Golf Rankings while the captain will be choosing 3 others that he prefer.
First time the Eurasian Cup is being held in Malaysia
The prize for the winning team is – 200,000 while the losing finalist will take home 100,000. The event is presented by DRB-Hicom Berhad which will take place at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club. This is the first time the Eurasian Cup is being held and is considered to be one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the region which is set to attract the top golfers around the world.
It will be held biennially in which both teams will be putting up 10 of the best golfers they can gather against each other. This event is scheduled to be broadcasted live to over 45 countries which mean that more than 670 million homes around the world will be watching. The PGM (Professional Golf of Malaysia) is the local coordinator for the tournament which was appointed by the Malaysian Government in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2014.
