Close to home
The event was held at the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort. Being part of the ‘Back-To-School’ program, it successfully raised nearly RM500,000, the highest amount ever raised in this event.
This would be the 29th time that the Charity Golf Championship is being held, one of the longest-running events of this kind. For the competition, the funds will be used together with other sources to form RM1.5 million worth of school essentials, among other items.
Such items are expected to be distributed largely to B40 families and their children who are in primary school. They will also be given to underprivileged children nationwide as well.
A golf game with a good cause
RMHC’s Charity Golf Championship has a long tradition. It is designed to help raise funds in helping those in need of aid and to improve the lives of the underprivileged. This is aligned with the core pillars of the organization which are Health, Education and Welfare.
According to the president of RMHC, it is hoped that the school packs given out could help the families of underprivileged children especially with the new school year approaching.
Almost RM10 million was raised from the ‘Back to School’ program the year before and this has helped more than 100,000 children who come from all over the country.
For this year, RMHC is set to make it better with medical grants given out to 4 welfare funds operated by hospitals like Tabung Pesakit Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM), Tabung Pesakit Hospital Tunku Azizah (HTA), Tabung Pesakit Hospital Pakar Kanak-Kanak (HPKK) UKM and the National Heart Institute (IJN) Foundation,
The grants will be given to children who are in urgent need of financial assistance to help them afford their medical treatment or for the purchases of medical equipment and other expenses.
Medical grants have been given out by RMHC Malaysia in the last few years, an initiative started back in 2018. To date, grants of nearly half a million ringgit have since been given out.
Such grants have gone a long way since RMHC Malaysia started the initiative which has since benefited many families, helping to pay for high medical expenses for their family members.
