Ashley Chin – Malaysian amateur golfer nominated thrice for Penang’s Future Best Sportswoman

In 2019, Malaysian amateur golfer Ashley Chin performed extremely well at the Singapore Junior Golf Championship. This would be one of the many achievements of this young lass from Penang who has since been included in the Malaysia Golf Association’s Malaysian Team 2020/2021.

Steady rise up the rankings

Ashley is no stranger to the amateur golf circuit. She went to the Chung Ling Private High School in Penang and has since furthered her studies in the United States in Oakland. Over the last few years, Ashley joined tournaments and has been involved in several team events as well. This includes being part of the team with Ashley Goh at the Singapore Open Junior Championships where they won the girl’s team title.

Tournaments and Achievements

As an amateur golfer, Ashley’s achievements have been nothing short of remarkable. She was the previous winner of Genesis Corp. SportExcel Grand Final and second at the Malaysia School Sports Council Championship. Besides that, Ashley has been nominated three times for the Future Best Sportswoman of Penang. In 2018, she was the overall champion at the MyFutures Junior National Tour. It must be highlighted that she shot a hole-in-one back in October 2020. She also participated in the 2019 MGA vs SGA Annual Match. Other tournaments that she has been involved in include:

  • The Kartini Cup in Vietnam where she finished eleventh.
  • Fourth at the 2019 Penang Amateur Open
  • Third at the 2019 Perak Amateur Open
  • Fourth at the AmBank SportExcel International Junior Championship
  • Fourth at the China Hainan Junior Golf Classic.
