Irfan Yusoff is a Malaysian professional golfer who comes from Kedah. Unlike many other professional golfers from the country, Irfan created a name for himself in the circuit slightly differently.
Turned Pro at 18
The Jitra-born golfer turned professional in 2012 but he did not come to the ranks through winning the more common State Amateur Opens or represented Malaysia in the international circuit. In fact, he started playing in SportExcel tournaments after he turned pro which was among his best achievement where he finished sixth in Bukit Jambul. He did not win any of the events but earned enough points to bring him to a higher level.
Succeded in his rookie season
In his first season, he missed a lot and he started learning with renowned instructor Steven Gulliano in 2014. He then improved in his game and before long, he started making inroads. It must be noted that Gulliano, who is based at the Mines Resort Golf and Country Club was coaching some of the top Malaysian players as well. In 2014,
Irfan finished in the Top 10 at the 2014 PGM Tiara Melaka Closed Championship. He would then get into a 6-months programme with Akedemi Golf Felda. This paid off for him as he finished at the quarterfinals of the PGM I&P Matchplay Championship. He would then play 24 holes and win the PGM Impian Closed Championship. In 2016, he finshished seventh at the PGM Darulaman Championshps while ending ninth at the PGM I&P Group Kinrara Matchplay and his career continues to rise from there.
