At least 5 of the current top 10 world ranked golfers will be featured in the upcoming Quail Hollow where the Wells Fargo Championship will be held and among them, Martin Kaymer, the current number 1 will be there.
Kaymer rose up the rankings in February but has not been performing as well as he would have liked.
Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy had a bad nine in last month’s Masters. He failed to win at the recent Maybank Malaysian Open 2011 and will be working to improve his game after meeting his coach in Germany after that.
At the moment, he is working on his backswing in preparation. McIlroy who will just only turned 22 admitted that he is still not that ready to win a major as yet at the place where he won his first PGA Tour last year here in Quail Hollow. He said that there are still part of his games that need improvements so that is what he will doing. He said that instead of trying to play his game, he tried to maintain his lead which was a mistake he made.
Phil Mickelson finishing second
Phil Mickelson who finished second in Quail last year will also be involved. This would be his first tournament after the Masters where he is known to have quite a good record here. The closest he ever got was finishing second which is disappointing. Following up to his current form, Mickelson has finished 6 times among the top 12 where he has been in the top 5 four times.
Meanwhile, another usual participant is Bubba Watson who won his second title last week in New Orleans and was the 2009 joint second place here.
Paul Casey, who is currently eighth is also part of the tour while former world number one Tiger Woods will not feature at Quail Hollow which is known to be one of the toughest tournament in the non-Major tests under the PGA calendar.
There would be some long holes to content in including what they call the Green Mile which could be hard for golfers. This is where the 2017 PGA US Open is set to take place as it is often been referred to the test in many ways.
