World number one Yani Tseng beats Michelle Wie to hold on to top spot

Michelle Wie lost out again at the LPGA Thailand were she came in second, losing to Yani Tseng of Taiwan. Tseng is also the youngest female golfer to have won 3 career major championships, after all she is currently the world number 1 in the Women’s World Golf Ranking. In Thailand, Tseng shot a 6 under-66 to upstage Wie with a 5 shot lead which gave her the third championship in 3 2eeks.

Going into the final round, Tseng was leading Wie and I.K Kim by one stroke and was the lowest score of the day when she finished with 7 birdies and 1 bogey having shot 15 under-273. With the win, she now holds the Australian Open and the Australian Ladies Masters respectively. Meanwhile, Wie had to settle for second place with 70 while Kim with one shot more is Kim who tied for third with Karie Webb. The contest was hot considering that Wie had tried to push Tseng to the wire when she got a birdie in the first hole as well as 2 more shots in the sixth and seventh holes but failed to conjure anymore birdies after that. The pressure was mounting and Tseng held on to win her third tournament with Singapore coming up next week.
