The state of Malacca is one of the most significant states in Malaysia as it is known to be the ‘Historical City’ where the country was founded. Neighboring Negri Sembilan on the north and Johor on the south, it is here where you will be able to find a wide variety of historical and heritage attractions. This includes the Stadhuys Church, the A ‘Famosa Fort, the Nyonya Heritage Stadium and many more. This is largely due to the historical events that shaped the state here with a lot of remnants left behind by the former colonies that include the Portuguese, the Dutch, the British and the Japanese. On top of that, you will also find a rich collection of cultures here like of the Chinese, the Peranakan and many more.

Golf in Malaysian Tourism state

Malacca is predominantly a tourist state. It is listed in the World Heritage City recognition by UNESCO and hence you will find that there are many resorts and hotels around here. While most tourists would come here to enjoy the history, architecture, heritage and culture, there are also quite a few golfing destinations that allow those who would like to play the game when visiting the state. The city center is very much congregated by narrow streets and historical sites so if you are looking for a game of golf, you would normally need to head out a bit further into the outskirts and to the seaside resort. Over the years, Malacca has produced some of the most exciting golfers from Malaysia like Kenneth de Silva who has enjoyed much success in the golfing circuit.

Golf course with short distance to famous landmarks

The A’Famosa Golf Resort is perhaps one of the most ideal golfing places to go to. This is because it is located away from the maddening crowd and is also home to the water theme park where you can head to the greens while your kids can hit the waters and games here. Located in Alor Gajah, the resort offers some very rocky and palm greens in its 27 hole course designed by Ross  Watson. The Ayer Keroh Country Club is another luxurious club here which was designed by Tun Dr Ghafar Baba, the former Chief Minister of the state.

Another option is located in Jasin at the Orna Golf and Country Club where it offers a 27 hole green designed by Andy Dye while the Pandanusa Golf Club is located quite near to the city center. The Tiara Melaka Golf and Country Club are located in Bukit Katil that comes with a  Nelson-Wright & Haworth-designed course.

The historical state of Malacca offers a great place for golf as it is located by the seaside amidst some very lush scenery and historical backdrop.
