PETALING JAYA, 21st June, 2022 – On the occasion of a Press Conference event, the Selangor State Government through its Official Tourism Promotion Agency, Tourism Selangor, made an exciting announcement: the organisation of the 4th Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament will take place on the 23rd of July 2022.

The tournament will be held at the Seri Selangor Golf Club (KGSS), which is in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya and has a course that combines the beauty of the tropics with the challenges of the game. This will undoubtedly be the day to observe some exciting golf tournaments.

The 18-hole inaugural Tournament will attract Selangor’s tourist industry participants, top Management in the private sector, celebrity and expatriate golfers, Tournament sponsors, golf lovers, and media, as well as officials from government-linked companies (GLCs).

It’s organised to improve existing or potential golfer relationships in a competitive yet fun atmosphere.

Mr. Azrul Shah bin Mohamad, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Selangor in a statement shared, “This golf tournament journey inspired by the concept of ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’, in which we organise tournaments in different locations each year.

This year, we chose Seri Selangor Golf Club as the official venue for our fourth tournament. The 4th Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament is also a way to show support for Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ), which is also celebrating its 16th anniversary this year.

With the ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’ idea, we encourage participants to not only demonstrate their golfing skills, but also visit the tourism sites around the golf course we choose each year. For instance, there are several tourist attractions like the Chocolate Museum in Kota Damansara, Kidzania, The Curve, 1 Utama, and Tropicana Gardens at our event location today.”.

There are an astounding 29 golf clubs in Selangor, several of which are award-winning, and the state has a clear path to optimal sports tourist penetration. Selangor, Malaysia’s leading and premier golf hub, is a popular destination for both local and international golfers looking for a little of adrenaline and excitement on the course, surrounded by lush greenery.

A total of 120 golfers are expected to participate this year, including representatives from the public and private sectors, well-known golfers and celebrities, as well as golfers from expatriate, travel agencies, and players from across the country and beyond.

As in previous years, the tournament is organised by standard professionals and is controlled and monitored by authorities. Aside from the chance to win several categories in this golf tournament, golfers can also win a lucrative prize in a lucky draw session held during the event.

This year, the tournament has prizes for the Hole-in-One category, which is Produa Ativa and was brought in by Tourism Selangor just for this tournament.”, Mr. Azrul Shah added.
