In February 2020, Grace Chin participate and won the inaugural Zurich Professional Golf Association of Malaysia (PGAM) Junior Invitational event. Hosted by Danny Chia at the Kota Permai Golf and Country Club, the tournament saw some of the top Malaysian professional and amateur golfers coming together and pitting their skills alongside one another.
Rising up the ranks
As an amateur, Grace has been performing very well and has since been selected into the MGA’s Malaysian local-based national team 2020/2021. She recently finished joint-first in the Girls Under-16 category at the 13th Faldo Series Malaysia Championship, no easy feat for the highly competitive golfing circuit in the country. She now joins the likes of the top amateur players to represent the country in team events in the golfing circuit around the region.
Tournaments and Events
At only 14 years old, Grace won the 2018’s DC Cup Tournament of Champions organized by MYFutures Junior Tour, the season-ending event of the Race to Templer Park spanned across 5 tournaments throughout the year. The DC Tournament of Champions is a World Amateur Golf Ranking event which meant it did Grace a lot of good in rising up the spots. She also won the Sabah International Junior Masters in 2019. That same year saw her finishing second at the Malaysian Junior Closed & SportExcel Malaysian Premier Elite Grand Finals. Other tournaments that Grace joined include:
- Finishing third at the 2019 MYFJT Tournament of Champions
- Sixth at the 2019 RSGC Ladies Amateur Open Championship
- Fourth at the 2019 Kartini Cup in Vietnam
- Ninth at the 2019 Malaysian Amateur Open (Ladies Division)
- Sixth at the 2018 Gavin Green – SportExcel Junior Amateur
