Low Khai Jei is one of the young and emerging professional Malaysian golfers. He burst into the golf scene after winning the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour’s Orna Closed Championship in Malacca.
Surprise Win for Low
In that tournament, Low finished 14-under 274 when he shot a 3-under 69 on the last day. The tournament is co-sanctioned by the Asian Development Tour where he started that day with a 3-stroke cushion over fellow Malaysian professional Nicholas Fung.
How Low came about
Low comes from Taiping, Perak and his foray into the professional golf circuit has been quite remarkable. In fact, barely a month after he turned professional, he was invited to the Maybank Malaysian Open in 2016. He would then be the highest-ranked amateur then. To date, Low has played in numerous tournaments including:
- The 2015 PGM Northport Glenmarie Championship where he finished T3
- the 2019 UMW ADT Championship
- The PGM MIDF Championship 2018
- PGM Penang Championship 2018
- SEA Games in Indonesia
