Golfing in the oriental island of Penang

Penang is one of the northern states located in Peninsular Malaysia. It is one of the most visited states in Malaysia often known for its tourist attractions as well as its food. It is made up of 2 regions that cover the island and the mainland. The state capital is Georgetown located in the former while the latter is the administrative region of Butterworth which borders Perak and Kedah.

Great place for golf and food

In Penang, you will find that there are many places to visit like the Kek Lok Si Temple, Fort Cornwallis while you can practically enjoy Penang food at almost every corner of the state. In Georgetown in particular, you will be able to visit the likes of Gurney Drive where most of the local cuisine is available. Apart from that, you can also head out towards Batu Ferringhi where you will find a stretch of seaside resorts and hotels.

Golfing around the state

Visiting Penang offers you a wide range of places to go and things to do. There is practically something for everyone in the family where one can indulge in shopping, the kids can go to the water park and the beaches while you can also enjoy a game of golf around the state. Most of the Golf Courses in Penang are located towards the suburbs of the main cities of Penang. The Bukit Jambul Golf and Country Club are located in Bayan Lepas around the airport area. It comes with an 18 hole golf course which was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr that offers one of the best views for golfing.

Over in Batu Gantang, you will find an 18 hole stretch that comes with hills, penal drains and such. Over at the mainland, the Seberang Prai you will find the Bukit Jawi Golf Resort that comes with a  36 hole green. The Kristal Golf Resort provides an 18 hole valley landscape course located at Sungai Bakap. One of the most established Golf Courses around the state is the Penang Golf Resort which offers a Graham Marsh designed, 36 hole green amidst its beautiful and serene landscape of trees and lush fairways that offer a truly rewarding golfing experience.

Penang’s natural island setting is a great place to play golf where it appeals very much to those who stay on the island as well as those who are here for both business and leisure. Over the years, it has been a popular destination where golf tournaments have been held while producing some of the top Malaysian players like Ashley Chin.
