The Bangi Golf Resort
This golf course offers a Ronald Fream, 18 hole course located in Bangi town where it is not far from the commercial areas but is surrounded by some of the richest natural environment of the state.
The Bangi Golf Resort is strategically located just outside the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. It is in the town of Bangi which is about 20 minutes drive along the Seremban highway from the heart of the city where one is welcomed by a 6,222 meter, golf course.

It is a 27-hole championship par 72 golf course that offers a wide range of facilities and services. The Kelab Golf Negara Subang
– Located in Kelang Jaya, it offers you 2, 18-hole international standard golf courses. This place has been used to host some of the top golfing tournaments that have attracted renowned players in the past.
One of the most prominent Golf Courses in the Klang Valley is the Kelab Golf Negara Subang or KGNS in short. It was previously known as the Subang National Golf Club which was launched by the first prime minister of Malaysia YAM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Alhaj.
KGNS has a very illustrious past where it went by many names before it used the current one where it is built on the Seaport Estate which was originally used as a rubber plantation. In 1963, the decision to buil a golf course was then mooted and the Sungei Way Golf Course was born before it was changed to Kelab Golf Kebangsaan Subang.
Due to its original rubber plantation setting, some of the trees can still be seen here. The national golf course was deemed necessary as the main golf club then was the Royal Selangor which was overflowing with members already.
Famous golf course in Subang Jaya
Today, KGNS is a popular golf course here mainly because of its historical past and the fact that it was located not far from the main commercial centers of the capital. In fact, KGNS’s location is regarded to be very strategic because it is within the vicinity of Subang and Sungai Way, two of the most rapidly growing townships in the county.
The golf course in KGNS was designed by Jeffrey Gibb & J.B. Twiss and has an 18-hole championship course known as the Putra Course and the Kelana Course. Among its most popular stretches here is the 7th Hole which is known as the ‘Seven Widows’ where it has some large bunkers and such.
Kajang Hill Golf Club
Hidden away from the maddening crowd and the traffic noises of the towns and cities in Selangor is the Kajang Hill Golf Club. The state of Selangor is known as the richest state in the country with a healthy balance of natural surroundings and modern cities with a combination of several different industries.
As such, it can sometimes be quite difficult to find a place to escape from the traffic jams and to play a game of golf without any distractions or noise. At the Kajang Hill Golf Club, this could be possible as it is located in Semenyih which is located not far from the city centre and yet far enough to provide the escapism route for any golfer of any level.
Established in 1999, the golf course here was designed by M Saito who laid out the 18-holes par-72 plan which will provide a challenging and rewarding game for any golfer. This is a place where one gets to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the natural and rich vegetation of the country without having to go deep into the jungles. The championship golf course offers a mixture of Japanese and Malaysian landscaping motifs which comes with Bermuda fairways encircling around some of the most challenging water Hazards, bunkers and ponds.

Kinrara Golf Club
Among the best around the city
The Kinrara Golf Club is probably one of the better places to play golf if you are looking to enjoy the game without having to travel too far. Chances are you want to enjoy the game and then go home for the night instead of spending it in any resort. It is actually about 25 minutes away from the city center of Kuala Lumpur.
Not for beginners
This is a unique place to be where the 19-hole golf course that makes up Kinrara Golf Club has some very exciting holes to play in. Besides the golf course, this is also a popular venue where weddings and events are held. The golf course here measures at 5,841 meters which come with some very challenging hazards and roughs. Beginners might find this course a bit too challenging while the experienced ones probably need to up their game at some point. The trees and bungalows just add on to the challenge. Teeing off here will be RM88 on weekdays and RM178 and RM118 for morning and afternoon on weekends.
Here, you can enjoy the green on the hilly slopes and natural surroundings while playing your game at the 18-hole, E H Parslow and Roslee Muda designed golf course.
Glenmarie Golf & Country Club
One of the most established golf courses in the country, it was established back in 1993. Here, you can play at the Max Wexler-designed golf course spread along with its 36-hole layout. This club houses the Resort and Valley Course respectively.
The Glenmarie Golf and Country Club is an exclusive and luxurious golf course located in the Klang Valley. It is among the many prestigious golfing destinations for those in the capital of Malaysia and among the people in the state of Selangor, the richest state in the country.
Situated strategically in Glenmarie around the Shah Alam region, the club was established in 1993 and with more than 20 years of providing international golfing experience for players of all levels, the club has expanded and grown with a reputation of class, quality and stature. In fact, the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club is being regarded as one of the top golf clubs in the country.
That which makes the club so distinguished is that it is a 36-hole Golf Course which is separated between the east and the west. Max Weller, the renowned American course designer was involved in the laying the plans for this course where it was known then as East and West Course which has since been renamed as Garden and Valley courses respectively.
Both the courses here are exceptionally designed with Bermuda Tifway 419 on the fairways while Bermuda Tifdwarf is used on the greens. On the Garden Course has some of the most spectacular lakes and palm trees that provide the obstacles while there are many bunkers and such here. Meanwhile, the Valley Course offers a different form of challenge which has may different types of pine trees that provide a great view of the surroundings when playing here.
Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Golf & Country Club
This golf course is often regarded to be one of the most beautiful ones in Selangor. It houses its own lake with carefully planned and designed foothills and trees. The course was designed by Thompson Wolveridge and Associates.
Located not far from the city centre of Kuala Lumpur is the Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah. Getting here from Kuala Lumpur only takes about half an hour where one is welcomed by some of the most spectacular sceneries for golfing.
The Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah is located in the town of Shah Alam, one of the most vibrant locations in Selangor. It is designed by Peter Thomson through his Thompson Wolveridge and Associates firm. He was a 5-times Open Champion and renowned golf architect in this own right. In designing the course, Thomson ensured that there were enough challenges and obstacles for golfer of every level.
As such, there are three Nines here placed strategically in the 27-hole USGA class championship golf course. Golfers come here throughout the day of the week to enjoy a game without having to travel too far out of town. It is the first and only golf course that offers night play on all the holes.
The three Nines here consist of the President Nines, the Sultan Nines and the Alam Shah Nines respectively. Within them are over 25,000 trees and shrubs which set the perfect atmosphere for a great game of golf. Apart from that, there are some very challenging fairways, uneven terrains and slopes and bunkers which elevate the game to a higher level, testing golfer of every level. Apart from golfing, the club offers many other facilities like a Pro Shop, F&B outlets that serve the best meals as well as viewing galleries, among others.
Kota Permai Golf & Country Club
Located in the dynamic township of Kota Kamuning, you get a 5-star, 18-hole international golf course to indulge in. This golf course opened its doors back in 1998 and has become a premier location for golf tournaments and events. This includes the Selangor Worldwide Masters and the highly-contested Maybank Malaysian Open. It comes with an Olympic-sized swimming pool and other facilities too.
The Kota Permai Golf and Country Club has the reputation of being one of the fastest growing golf clubs in Malaysia. Established in 1998, the golf course has already hosting several top tournaments that include the Asian Tour Volvo Masters as well as hosting the qualifying rounds of the World Cup of Golf in 2007.
Located in Kota Kamuning, the Kota Permai Golf and Country Club offers a great golfing destination as it is only about 30 minutes-drive away from the city centre. In the club is an 18-hole championship course which is designed to offer a challenging and rewarding game for every golfer.
Ross Watson, one of the top international architects who have designed some of the most remarkable courses in the world was responsible for the layout here. Since then, the Kota Permai Golf and Country Club has been enjoying huge success having been ranked as the Number One Golf Course and Most Beautiful Hole by Golf Magazine for several years. Apart from that, it was voted Best Golf Course and in the 2008’s edition of Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards took home the Best Golf and Country Club honours.
The 6,398 meter long course here is a great place to play as there are some very challenging fairways to maneuver, bunkers and trees to explore and some very interesting water Hazards and bunkers that are specially intended to give the game a lot more character while the fairways that are carpeted with Bermuda grass amidst the scenic landscape makes the experience a lot more fulfilling.
Beringin Golf Club
– If you do not mind travelling a bit further, head out to Kuala Kubu Bahru, where you will come to Beringin Golf Club which offers an 18-hole stretch crafted by renowned designer Ted Parslow.
The SSG Beringin Golf Club is among those that are located around the northern regions of the Klang Valley. It is in Kuala Kubu Baru which can be quite a sleepy town to many. The surroundings here include Rawang and Bukit Beruntung, which at one time were tipped to be up and coming townships that was to be satellites for the airport but was later moved down south.
As such, the townships here are quite quiet for many years until recently when development started to grow again. As such, more and more people are visiting this town again and the SSG Beringin Golf Club offers an exciting option for those who do not like to drive too far out of the city for a fulfilling game of golf.
The SSG Beringin Golf Club offers a great place to play the game especially if one is looking for a cool and peaceful environment as it is naturally a valley here. Other fess like Buggy charges are RM31.50 for the 9 holes and RM63 for the 18s while Caddies will charge you RM21.00 for the 9s and RM36.75 on the 18 holes. Tee off times start at 7.15am in the mornings and 12noon for the afternoons.
Getting to Palm Garden Golf Club
The easiest way to get to Palm Garden is by road because most of all the highways in the Klang Valley basically leads you to Putrajaya. From Kuala Lumpur, the PLUS highway is the best way to get to Palm Garden where you can exit through the Putrajaya interchange and follow the ‘IOI Resort’ directions. If you are coming from Puchong or Damansara, the LDP will lead you to Putrajaya where you follow the signs and head towards ‘IOI Resort’ If you are coming from any other parts of the country, you only need to follow the PLUS highway and exit at Putrajaya and then head towards ‘IOI Resort’ and you are already here.
Saujana Golf & Country Club
– This is perhaps one of the most talked-about golf courses in the country. Established in 1986, you get to play on either one of the two 18-hole golf courses designed by Ronald Fream. The Palm Course has often been regarded to be among the most challenging courses in the region. It has been designed with undulating fairways, bunkers and hazards that will test the skill of players at every level.
Saujana Golf & Country Club (SGCC) was incepted by former premier, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in 1982 when he propelled the idea to establish a golf club in the capital city, Kuala Lumpur in an effort to attract investors as well as industrialists. Thus, the development of two 18-hole Golf Courses began in 1983.
The Golf Courses also come together with a clubhouse, chalet complex and luxurious hotel. Formerly known as Golf Resort (M) Sdn Bhd, the name was changed to Saujana Resort (M) Berhad in 1985 as it turned into a public company in the same year.
A California-based golf architectural firm under the management of Ronald Fream was responsible in designing and turning the plantation land into a panoramic and impressive international standard course. Three years later in 1986, the clubhouse opened its door officially on Valentine’s Day while Hyatt Saujana Hotel was launched in 1987.
