The Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor or KLSCCCI is among the most active institutions in the country that represents the Chinese business community.

In doing so, the KLSCCCI puts a lot of focus on activities that promote welfare, cultural, educational and national unity while ensuring there is a healthy development in the economic and commercial sectors.

A Yearly Tradition

Each year, the KLSCCCI contributes to good causes where it gives out ‘ang pau’ during Chinese New Year and ‘duit raya’ during Hari Raya to the less fortunate. These are just some of the efforts that the KLSCCCI carries out as part of its charity work for welfare organizations like orphanages and old folks’ homes.

One of the recent initiatives that the KLSCCCI carried out was in September 2022 when it donated RM118,000 to the UTAR Education Foundation for the UTAR Hospital during the UTAR Hospital Charity Golf Meet.

Working for more communities

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, KLSCCCI embarked on several initiatives to help certain communities weather the storm. This includes giving donations to organizations that are in urgent need of medical equipment and food aid to those who need them.

Besides that, the KLSCCCI had 2021 launched a flood relief operation that include providing equipment to help in the cleaning up of the aftermath. They also gave out cash vouchers to families that were badly affected by the flood in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor at that time.

Golf for the cause

As part of their ongoing commitment to help society, the KLSCCCI hosted a Charity Golf Championship and a Charity Dinner back in August.

The event was organized with the aim to raise funds for charity and welfare initiatives and providing a platform for members and the invited guests of the chamber to network and connect with each other.

The event was held on 18 August 2022 at the Palm Garden Golf Club, IOI Resort City in Putrajaya which started at 11 am with lunch and then the golf game.

The Charity Dinner was held from 6.30 pm with networking and cocktails with dinner starting an hour later at the Ballroom of the Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, IOI Resort City, Putrajaya.

What makes events like these so significant was that they brought together a community of members who have similar interests in the game with clear objectives of what they want to achieve.

Everyone who participated had a good time networking, and playing golf while enjoying a good dinner before going home fulfilled and satisfied having contributed to a good cause.
