Fakhrul Akmal – Creative waves in the golfing circuit with a higher aim for challenges

Fakrhul Amal is one of the emerging names in the Malaysian golf scene. Touring in the PGM, he has been involved in some high-profile tournaments throughout.

Making his mark in the sport

The 2019 Penang Championship 2019 carried RM225,000 prize money and is considered to be one of the higher paying tournaments in this circuit. It was then won by Japanese golfer Naoki Sekito which would be his first PGM (Professional Golf of Malaysia) title. Co-sanctioned by the Asian Development Tour or ADT, it saw the participation of American Sam Gillis and Trevor Simsby while Malaysia’s Fakhrul Akmal finished ninth. Meanwhile, Fakhrul was also involved in the PGM Northport ADT Championship that year too together with other Malaysians Shahriffuddin Ariffin and Amir Nazrin.

Tournaments and Achievements

Fakhrul has been performing extremely well in the golf circuit since turning pro and making inroads into various tournaments and events. Among those that he was involved in include:

  • 2019 PGM Sabah ADT Championship
  • 2019 PGM Northport ADT Championship – Finished T15
  • 2019 PGM ADT Championship @ Tiara Melaka – Finished T32
  • 2019 PGM ADT Penang Championship – Finished T9
  • 2019 PGM ADT Johor Championship – Finished T20
  • 2018 PGM Maybank Championship – Finished T42
