From a young age, Anson Yeo Boon Xian has performed very well in the golfing circuit. The Sarawak-born golfer was once the youngest (and probably smallest) golfer who played in Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina, United States during the 2015 US Kids Golf World Championship.
Then, Anson was only 9 years old and was studying at Lodge School where earned his place to the tournament after he won Malaysia’s 2014 Kids Golf World Championship hosted at Johor Bahru’s Le Grendeur Golf Resort.
Since then, Anson has continued to chart his career in the game to the present day. His most recent achievement came about in August 2022 when he won the 1st Wilayah Persekutuan Amateur Open held at the Labuan International Golf Club.
This would be the 4th leg leading to the Malaysian Amateur Open 2022. The 16-year old golfer birdied the 11th hole in the last round to beat Brandon Lai of Sabah to add to his titles including the 2022 Perak Amateur Open held earlier.
Back in July 2022, Anson did well at the 74th Singapore Open Amateur Championship held at the Tanah Merah Country Club’s Tampines course in Singapore where he finished highest among the Malaysian golfers with a T8 position.
Prior to this, Anson has been actively involved in various tournaments to improve his points, moving his career steadily up the ranks including:
- 6th at the 2020 3rd Leg SportExcel-Milo-NSC Malaysian Junior Premier Elite Golf Circuit
- 1st at the 1st and 2nd Leg of the SportExcel-Milo-NSC Malaysian Junior Premier Elite Golf Circuit
- 29th at the PGM KIA Championship 2022
- 2nd at the 2022 Malaysian Amateur Closed
- 4th at the Penang Amateur Open
