Melody FM is one of the latest additions to the Malaysian radio scene. This station is aired in Chinese Language and is on throughout the day. Melody FM is owned and operated by AMP Radio Networks which is part of the satellite service company Astro Group.
This radio station was only launched in 2012 but has since grown to become one of the leading Chinese language stations in Malaysia. This is seen through the current landscape of Malaysia radio where single-format stations have become quite the industry standard among listeners.
Melody FM is tuned in by listeners mainly in the urban and suburban regions. In the Klang Valley, listeners tune in to 103.0 Mhz while those in other states will listen to Melody FM through varying frequencies. That which makes Melody FM is that while most Chinese stations play contemporary and latest hits, this station emphasizes more on music of the 80’s to the early 2000s.
This means that the audience will be listening to music from the likes of Alan Tam, Sandy Lam, Anita Mui, the late Leslie Cheung as well as veteran artistes from Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia.
Melody FM has a strong lineup of DJs that include the very popular Chui Ling who hosts the Morning Boss programme with Jentzen Lim, a renowned personality as well who both entertain the morning drivers through its time slot from 6.00am to 10.00am. Other segments that Melody FM is popular for includes the Eat Play Drive segment that comes on between 4.00pm to 8.00pm on weekdays.
